MEMBERS ONLY: OP ART EXHIBIT AND TOUR (+1 EVENT)

MEMBERS ONLY: OP ART EXHIBIT AND TOUR (+1 EVENT)

IWCS members and their guests are invited to join host Emily Born for an English-language tour of the special exhibit “Vertigo” at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart in March!

Warning: this exhibit is not for the faint of heart (or eyes!). It showcases the jarring world of the mid-1950s Op Art movement, meant to manipulate our vision and overwhelm our bodies. They have also included some 16th-18th century art pieces that also played with optical effects and can be considered precursors to the movement.

We will meet at 17:15 on Friday, March 27th to pick up our tickets and our tour will start promptly at 17:30. The English-language tour will be 90 minutes long and the museum is open until 21:00 on Friday nights so there is plenty of time afterwards to visit the regular collection if you wish. Let Emily know if you are interested in going out for drinks or dinner afterwards so we can make reservations.

This is a +1 event, which means:

  • Any IWCS member plus one guest are welcome to attend.
  • Your +1 can be a partner, spouse, adult child, or friend (adults only)
  • You and your guest each pay the member cost listed below.

The cost of this event is €5 per person, paid in advance. The tour guide will be sponsored by the IWCS and this is a Round Up For Charity event. All proceeds will benefit Frauen helfen Frauen.

To reserve your spot, please RSVP using the form below or respond in the pending Facebook event. To confirm your reservation, please transfer the €5 per person to the IWCS bank account no later than Sunday the 22nd of March. If you have any extenuating circumstances that keep you from getting the funds to us by that date, please speak directly with the host so we don’t assume you are no longer interested.

Prepayments are non-refundable after the payment deadline. Members who have to cancel at the last minute are welcome to find another member or guest to send in their place.

Don’t forget your 2020 renewal dues!

2020 Steering Committee Positions Update

2020 Steering Committee Positions Update

As we mentioned last month, we are looking for new volunteers to take on leadership roles in 2020!!

The great news is that we have found volunteers for almost all of the open positions with members stepping up and putting their names on the ballot for the Activities Coordinator, Treasurer, and Mother’s Corner Coordinator positions!

But we still need that special someone to handle all things Charity in 2020. A team of two co-coordinators is also possible if you’d like to join up with a friend and take it on together. Here is a description of the position and you will have the benefit of Claire still being around and involving helping you out:

CHARITY COORDINATOR

  • For this position we are looking for an event organizer who is creative, fearless, and has a basic command of the German language, to be in charge of our fundraising efforts for Frauen helfen Frauen.
  • You would have the option of planning one big charity event in late 2020 or many smaller events scattered throughout the year like we did in 2019. The time commitment depends on what you decide to do with the position.
  • You would need to be able to organize and manage a team of members to help you and have a willingness to work in Facebook groups with the other leaders on a regular basis.

If this sounds like something you could see yourself doing, please contact Emily using the form below or on Facebook.

Thanks,
Emily

Location: Yoga und Pilates in der Galerie Studio; Friedenstraße 12, 70190 Stuttgart-Ost (look for the stairs)

Yoga is more than a workout. Practicing a yoga-lifestyle can empower your life and improve your well-being.

Trained in meditation, yoga, and coaching, Stef and Tina are offering a free workshop to their fellow club members in January. The workshop will be held in English and is open to all levels of yoga and meditation ability.

The workshop will last 1.5 hours and the first part will be a mindfulness practice and discussion with Stef (40 min). At the beginning and end we will be journalling our thoughts. All writing is for your benefit and kept personal. Then you are led into visualization and silent meditation. The theme of “Being authentic” will be presented and opened for discussion with the group.

The second part of the workshop will be an “Introduction to The Yoga Lifestyle” with Tina (40 min). We will learn about the benefits of yoga and we will practice a yoga sequence that will leave us energized and calm.

Please bring or wear yoga clothes and a notebook and pen to write with. Please arrive 5-10 minutes beforehand. There is no charge for this workshop but we do need a minimum of three participants to go forward (10 guests maximum).

We are looking forward to sharing this class with you!
