Ludwigsburg is a beautiful and vibrant Baroque city to the north of Stuttgart. Founded in the early 18th century, the city today is a place where history and the present peacefully coexist. An integral part of the city’s unique charm is its outstanding and diverse cultural scene. Home to numerous cultural institutions, Ludwigsburg is widely known as a city of films and festivals.
Join member Alison Tyler in August for a 90 minute free walking tour of Ludwigsburg starting at the famous Schloss (palace) and finishing on the market square. Hear how Ludwigsburg came into existence and experience some of the highlights of its more than 300 years of history including its architecture and famous sons and daughters (poets, inventors and theologians), along with information about the up and coming festivals and popular places to eat and drink.
Maximum 25 guests, wheelchairs and prams are welcome. We will be walking a total of 4-5 kilometers. We will meet in the courtyard of the palace at 10:30, but if anyone would like to meet Alison at the train station, she will be there at 10:00. Please note if the weather is stormy, the tour will not go ahead.
This is a +1 event, which means:
- Any IWCS member plus one guest are welcome to attend.
