After the huge success of this year’s Annual Charity Event, the Organizing Committee has decided to hold the event again in April 2016. All the proceeds raised during our Annual Charity Event goes to the local women’s shelter Frauen helfen balloonsFrauen e.V., the designated charity of the IWCS. This year we were able to raise 5000 EUR and we think that’s a good reason to keep doing it.

The 2016 ACE will be another themed party, but we haven’t decided on the motto yet. We are interested in hearing what themes would make you excited about the event. You can post the suggestions in our Facebook members’ group or contact coordinator Vaida Kovalick using the contact form below.

Organizing this yearly event requires quite a bit of time and effort, hence we need your help and support. Many amazing ladies were involved in ACE 2015 (remember the photos, cocktails etc?), and we really hope to have enough volunteers this time as well.

Here are the main areas where your help is needed:

  1. Raffles and sponsorships: This is the big one – we need to raise money! These volunteers would contact companies asking for raffle prizes and cash donations; help with letters, written in German; ideas, which companies/organizations to contact for sponsorships – maybe it’s your family’s or friend’s business or the company you or your spouse work for etc;
  2. Event promotion: from invitation design to spreading the word around and cross-promotion;
  3. Decorations and Entertainment: once the theme has been chosen, ideas for party decor and entertainment;

Your generosity will be greatly appreciated by the beneficiaries of our event, Frauen helfen Frauen e.V. and their women’s shelter.

After all the hard work, partying, and lots of giggle water, we are proud to announce that the IWCS raised a total of €5000 to donate to the Frauenhaus.

The organizers were especially happy to see all the guests embrace the Roaring Twenties party theme! You all looked amazing in your fancy evening attire and accessories, no doubt reflected in the beautiful photos taken by our own Coralie Sneddon.

We hope you also enjoyed the music performed by pianist Bea Michalski and dancing to the sounds of DJ Jan from Mr Mac’s Party Team. Maybe the curry was on the spicy side, but it definitely added flavor to the party…could that have been the reason why the cocktail bar – run by our own Gail Rinehart and Michelle Niese-Mendel – was such a huge success?!

Donation Details

Receipts from the event fundraisers (raffle, cocktail bar, and dessert table) together with many corporate and personal donations accumulated to just over €4000 and the IWCS board decided to round up the donation to €5000 using reserve club funds.

Raffle tickets sales brought in €1178 and the amazing skills of our bartenders and the bakers generated another €1015 in cocktail/drinks/dessert sales.

Corporate donations included cash donations of €250 from Kaercher GmbH and €400 from LBS-BW Bank. Another €815 was raised through our fundraising website hosted at

Some of the event’s costs were covered by the sponsors directly. We would like to thank Maku Industries for printing and mailing our invitations and Thomas Wilke Consulting for the pianist expenses.

Dear Members,

As has been our tradition, we are asking again to donate your baked goods for the dessert table for the Annual Charity Event on April 25th. Your baking skills will greatly contribute to the proceeds for Frauen helfen Frauen, our designated charity. As last year, we will be offering a single-price dessert plate, so people can enjoy various bites of different desserts. So choose your favorite recipe and help us to help the Frauenhaus.

Baker guidelines:

1. Please make sure your recipe does not have raw eggs or cream – we do not have a refrigeration option.

2. If you are planning to bake a cake or a brownie or something similar, please do cut them into pieces. Do not worry about the size, we will cut them into smaller pieces if need be.

3. If you are coming to the event (we would love to see you there!) please bring your dessert with you. If you are not coming (we will definitely miss you) you can arrange to give it to one of the charity event organisers.

4. As per the new EU rule, we will ask you fill in an Ingredient Disclosure Form (possible allergens). Copies will be be available at the event or from the dessert table organiser, Anuradha Kipf, in advance.

Then join us for a Charleston Solo class for two hours on Saturday the 11th of April at Lalo Tango Dance Studio near Marienplatz.

The class is limited to 15 people, the cost is 20 EUR per person. This event is primarily for IWCS members, however if we have free places, then non members are welcome to join us.

To get us in the mood for our big Charity Event in April, we will be watching the classic version of “The Great Gatsby” with Robert Redford. This should give us plenty of costume ideas and maybe we can also learn a dance move or two.

Guests are asked to bring a movie snack, either sweet or savory (brownies without nuts are always appreciated by the hostess) and drinks will be provided. We will start with a glass of Sekt at 19:30 and begin the movie at 20:00.
